why is this even a controversial suggestion? so far we've had plenty of apparel that borrows from various cultures with no issue (we already some of the stuff they're "suggesting" too). pretty much every fantasy based media does some borrowing, it's incredibly difficult to build a large world and NOT draw a few cultural parallels. maybe impossible.
there are some obvious bad ideas for apparel that would not go over well (First Nations headdresses, """""geisha""""" apparel) but to think the staff/art team would make something truly offensive or that appropriative is.... kind of a shitty assumption. there isn't any precedent there at all to think that lowly of the artists, yknow? let's maybe wait to cross that bridge if we get there.
as someone said in the thread, with a little research it's easy to see what would or wouldnt be a minefield. theres really no reason to assume fr staff is incapable of doing that bit of legwork
