I think you're underestimating the amount of planning some people are doing for this expansion. I have three pairs st up for it that have mostly all new colors between them and which will produce popular combinations.

Nice combos won't be limited to g1s at all. If anything g1s will have the same problem they currently have where most of them look like a total mess because of random colors.

no, i don't think i am. i know people are planning accordingly and a lot of combos will pop up instantly, but there are going to be combos that'll look amazing with genes that will only take off once we're actually able to scry them. there are a lot of combos that look amazing in poitox that nobody cared about before, colours like platinum gained a big boost of popularity with cryface, etc. the obvious stuff like triples and pastels are being planned for, but without genes we can only really guess what will look good and what won't.

of course ugly g1s are still going to be everywhere, and the majority of g1s are going to look like ass. i'm talking about the pretty ones, and g1s don't really compete with on-g1s anyway. when i was talking about "first of their kind" i mostly meant in regards to being the first g1, sorry if that was confusing. mostly just trying to explain there are going to be thousands of new combos, and a pretty nice g1 in all new colours is probably always going to be worth more than an equivalent pretty nice g1 in all old colours. the vast majority of colour combos available now already exist in at least one g1, with the wheel almost tripling it'll take years for the new wheel to reach that point. ofc not all of them will be desirable, but i think it'll keep the *new* g1 market healthy for a while.
