"it will take months for brand new nice combos to appear that *aren't* g1s" idk that this is true because everyone's currrent pretty pairs will all have new colours in their ranges (unless their pairs are suuuper tight range, and even tight ranges might have a new colour or two sneak in) so even people not getting new pairs just for the expansion will have pretty hatchies with new colours immediately.
yeah but that's only considering the combos people have planned for, those aren't going to be the *only* nice combos. since we don't know what the new colours look like with genes we don't know everything that'll look nice. there are some combos now that have doubled in population because of poitox, we'll definitely have some surprises that we won't know about until we have scrying access.
Uh, even with people getting ready and breeding for specific color combos, it will still be a while before those color combos become at all common. First you have to hope that your pair actually throws the right colors. If it doesn't, you have to wait at least two weeks to try again. If it does, you have to wait at least two weeks before you can breed that dragon, and that's if you can find a mate with the right range. So breeding for specific color combos is still going to be very tough, especially considering that some adjacent colors are going to get four or five new ones in between. Between that and all the fantastic new poi/tox combos we have no way of predicting, it will be at least two months before people can start reliably breeding most of the new color combos they want. Probably longer.
