literally just look up the item in the AH and get the image URL from there. a simple image code will do the rest, and you won't need to use a site that hotlinks and actively harms FR's servers and violates their TOU.

i think it's a dumb idea to hotlink kanojo since the admins actively disapprove of the site, but kanojo did shift over to rehosting everything themselves a long time ago.
yeah, but how does the image get there? i'm especially curious about skins and accents. does kanojo also host all the dragons you can preview skins/accents on? if you don't have an actual source on how kanojo works that's fine, but i'm not going to look at something that looks like a big hotlinking mess and just assume it's fine without an explanation on how it works.
i mean imo FR is well within their rights to block kanojo for whatever reason, even if it's not hotlinking it still has to be interacting with the server for accent/skin previews. admins' website, admins' rules.

i like watching the progression of shorthand as it slowly takes over these replies, it's like the text is just slowly deteriorating or something. kinda neat.
they have a script that combs through the FR database once a day, and then the owner takes the images and reuploads them to kanojo
idk why that source isn't sufficient - it's pretty damn self-explanatory, but i'll spell it out anyway. all items are uploaded to their own domain, here are some fine examples of the URLs you might see:
dragon previews for accents seem to work in the same way that other accent self-previewers do, which accent artists use all the time. with self-previewers, you put in a direct link to your dragon's image and it previews the accent overtop of whatever your dragon looks like at the moment. with kanojo you just put in the dragon's ID number instead - there's likely a simple script that will grab the image based on the ID you enter. it's not "hotlinking" since dragon previews are all done locally. if you load it up on another computer it won't be there.
idk why you think i'm arguing that FR blocking kanojo is bad? obviously it's their site and they do what they want... and kanojo is running scripts to access their database, which is definitely against TOS. i can absolutely see why they don't like it, and hotlinking from a domain that's effectively blocked was very dumb on OP's part. but the only real "harmful" thing kanojo is doing is potentially spoiling stuff early, and that never really happens.
hey, thanks for an actual answer. i mean that, no sarcasm. my question was if it's not hotlinking then how do the images get there, because without some kind of computer-based aid i cannot imagine the headache of combing through all that by your lonesome looking for new stuff. since i'm not especially well-versed in programming, to my eyes it just looked like either the option was piggyback off FR's servers (which i guess is kind of happening when the script sniffs around for new stuff?) or spend an insane amount of time combing through data by hand, which ... i don't actually believe anyone has the patience for.
tbh i thought those dragon previewers were frowned on by admins. i recall somebody getting a warning or something over using those a while back, because when i saw people using them again in skin/accent sales threads i was honestly surprised. maybe it's different now, or causes less strain on the server or something, idk.

Dude, it's a site the most likely scrapes periodically for data. FR stores the data predictably. Hotlinking isn't remotely useful for what they do, as FR can change links.
