DA exactly - it's just a way for people to try and get more out of the 50k g/g than they put in. there's even the "if there are <5 listings, it's probably hard to resell" rule or whatever.

I've made bulk offers on fest currency in hoard clearance sales on the fourms before and had people turn me down with individual AH quotes for each type of currency. Sometimes I explain why I made the offer I made - that the market for fest currency isn't really reflected by AH prices outside of festivals - and I've had some people say "oh" and some people say "well I could maybe discount from AH a little bit, but." So honestly, some people just have no clue. Whether or not that's the case in this, I have no idea and no opinion, but yeah, it does sometimes happen.
were these people also suggesting outrageous amounts like 100k/piece? i sort of feel like "well maybe I could discount a little bit, but" is a way of trying to squeeze more out of buyers who are willing to give into that. but maybe i'm just cynical...
idr, I don't think it was that outrageous, though I think I remember something like 50kt once. It was just people who were only willing to go by AH. The level of outrageousness of the prices seemed to be linked to the level of ourtrageousness of the people listing currency on the AH.
On the one hand, I can understand people who don't know being firm in sticking to AH prices and not taking anyone's word for it, because people do lowball really outrageously in the forums sometimes. On the other, if you've been on-site long enough for at least one festival, I can't imagine why you would think someone would pay more for currency out-of-festival, when they'll only have to hold on to it for months before it's any use, than they'd be willing to pay during-festival. But who knows.
