I don't know why but I keep thinking that there is a tert called Splash. I'd be totally okay with it having a different appearance/pattern on each dragon breed too.

OMFG, YES!! That's exactly what I pictured! It may not be the best but it's still perfect. Time to bride the staff with dragon monies for this ;o;

reading this made me remember a dream I just had where i was scrying a random ugly G1, and there was a primary gene called 'Tetris" and I was just like oh, I completely forgot about that gene like ripple or bar because it was kinda ugly.

It basically made a dragon look like minecraft blocks with pixelated squares on it. I don't think it would go down well, mostly for copyright reasons.
