Let's say you go into a thread and are okay with the prices so you fill in a form for the thing you can afford, but when the artist replies the price is 6 times the price posted in their pricelist.

What's a polite way to say that it's too much? Like...I could afford it if it was 2x what the pricelist said, but this is a huge jump. :\ I wasn't looking for anything special, either. Just a black and white sketch of a dragon with no clothes.

just say 'thank you for pinging me, but when i filled out the form, the price was lower. i unfortunately can't afford the new price, so please give the slot to the next person on the waiting list'

as an artist myself who has been doing freelance for a long time, I worry about this persons business practices? Like I get if it was a limited sale and then the days rolled over or maybe user error and there was extra rules somewhere (like extra dosh for complicated designs)....but like how would it multiply so much? False advertisement/wrong expectations are awful for business if they keep repeating that sorta thing smh

I looked over things again and I think I may know what happened. I have yet to hear back from the person, but I think they mixed up my post with the person above mine because theirs would be this price.

I ended up sending them a message to ask about it though, since it didn't seem right to clutter up their thread with it.
