What is up with the gem ratio lately? I swear it went up 50TR in a week.

nobody is selling gems, so -> less gems in circulation -> inflation

there used to be a few people who bought gems from FR in bulk and then sold them for treasure in the forums, but they've been inactive for a little while now

Maybe the types who buy fems for real money are losing interest in FR. That could be a major contributor.

It isn't as though there has been anything new other than the color wheel in literally years.

That, and the oddly prevalent attitude that people who buy gems are idiots for wanting to support FR.

+1

Really?? I didn't even know this was a thing. I used to sell gems a lot because my budget back then supported it, but now it doesn't so I have to cut down on a lot of stuff including buying FR gems to pay more important stuff like my bills and school. I thought that once I can get another good pay day and save enough extras for hobby stuff then I'll try selling gems again.

Just stay away from tumblr and you'll be ok.
In any case, it's mostly just people with a "FR is run by idiots" mentality + R's supporters who feel this way and are very vocal about it.

yeah i've never seen this either, but i'm not surprised... i play gw2 and there is a lot of saltiness about 'whales' AKA people who spend a reasonable amount of real money on the game. they can get really aggressive about their distaste for those people. it's weird.

I wonder why that is? Is it maybe the whole idea that its "just pixels"/not a physical thing? Arguably when you buy things that are electronic only, such as a Steam game, you're doing something not quite but very similar. Honestly, I would rather spend $10 on a browser game that I have been enjoying for hundreds of hours over a steam game I may only get 5-8 hours out of.

I'll admit this is true for me. I had no problems putting money down for gems once a month. But lately FR just doesn't keep enough of my interest to bother.
