good lord what is happening with eliminates?

sorry if this is old news but i just checked the prices and it's insane, did their drop rate get nerfed or is it just because registration is open?

People claim it's been nerfed but...I don't know. I know my grinding habits have changed since the time when I was getting eliminates- I was training mostly in the Mire for a long time and that doesn't drop them.

The pool of rare drops has also been increased over the past year. They made it so everywhere drops elemental eggs of all types instead of only dropping a few, so that could have made a difference. Plus vistas and cleavers. So that could have made a change in drop frequency too.

I think a lot of it is two reasons.

1. People are training exalts in the Mire a lot, which doesn't drop them. It does drop ambushes, though, and look at the prices of those. They used to be the expensive ones compared to eliminate!

2. They more evenly distributed things, like holiday currency. It used to be the Arena was the best bet for most anything, and it drops eliminates pretty well. But now people don't farm there as much. Look how the price of eliminates dropped after the first Night of the Nocturne, when the Arena was the best grinding spot compared to how the price didn't really drop after the second NotN when there were more areas to grind successfully.

I really wish they would have eliminate drop in all venues. The prices are out of control.

both, imo

it always goes up during reg windows, but i think it was inadvertently nerfed as well. i've started noticing it since staff started introducing new mobs to old venues (i think these new guys don't have the chance to drop it, they just lower the encounter chance with guys who do)... now with the new venues, i think other drops might be taking elim's chances too, such as venue-exclusive apparel, more egg types and vistas (like the other anon said)

i don't think staff meant to make elim rarer, but it was a side effect they haven't cared about yet

Eliminate is one of those things that can drop from any monster rather than being restricted to one type/one specific one, so I doubt they're adding mobs that can't drop them.

are you sure about that, though? at least according to this guide, eliminates are restricted to some mobs

Back when I was grinding in places that dropped them it never seemed like they came from anything specific, but I never kept a spreadshet of who dropped what or anything.

I'd be interested to see people do a data analysis project like they did with the fest currency drops a while back to see if it's true and if different mobs have different drop rates too.

I would absolutely be all over doing that analysis project--had already started a droprate/what-drops-what project (1k battles per venue) at one point, but that was quite a while back. Worth reviving perhaps?

We actually had someone in my flight who was at one point collecting data regarding eliminate. It did look specific to the enemy. We definitely seemed to consistently have only longneck skirmishers and chimera drop them in the arena.

Oh man, it never occurred to me that Eliminate might share the same rarity as eggs and other stuff. I knew the gathering mechanic works by selecting rarity of drop and then choosing which drop, but I didn't think about whether coli might work the same way. If so, it makes a lot of sense that Eliminate has gotten so rare.

Eliminate and the vistas share the same shiny star rarity, while eggs and cleavers are a notch down at 5-star rarities. Coli apparel seems to vary between 5-star and shiny star rarities too (with some exceptions from older items).
