because holy shit if you think you're mentally ill you go see a Real Life doctor about it. you can be as """"self aware"""" as you think you are all the livelong day, but you aren't a doctor and you do not get to decide what mental illness you have like it's your goddamn starter pokemon.
just bc one or two shitheads self-identify and they're making it up for Special Snowflake Points does not mean those of us who self-identify (or did so for years before being diagnosed by a doctor) are all doing it, too. there is a line here.
Psychs do NOT like giving the dx of BPD to people under 18 because of the fact that the brain doesn't stop developing until the age of 25, and MANY of the meds used to (or attempt to) treat BPD can really affect the development of a young mind. That, and when you're sixteen, you REALLY don't need to be jumping from SSRI's to antidepressants etc- save the medicine musical chairs for post 21.
Sadly, BPD folks are labelled with the unfortunate truth of being melodramatic and CAN be manipulative (but not always) and in constant need of attention and reassurance that they're loved. They also have problems with a sense of self and often have issues staying true to an identity.
this, to me, just sounds like a bratty ass teenager who thought "Well I can be a complete and utter shit and just blame it on BPD"
A LOT of people do this sadly, and it makes people with BPD look bad, and that shit pisses me the fuck off.
