the one problem i had with that post was that they conflated intrusive thoughts with violent thoughts. i wish they had just stuck with what they used the second time, which was "intrusive violent thoughts", and not had the two combined with an "or".

people have intrusive thoughts all the time (even neurotypical people -- think that sudden feeling of 'oh god what if i just drove the car off the road' while you're driving over a bridge or whatever; just about everyone has had that thought, doesn't mean you'll DO it). just because you do have intrusive thoughts doesn't mean you're at risk to become violent or need to be on meds or be hospitalized. it's a quibble, but i think it sets up a false equivalency. intrusive violent thoughts is a worrying thing yes, but not just intrusive thoughts.

What you're saying makes sense to me except for the last bit, as I think intrusive nonviolent thoughts can be worrying as well, depending on the definition of worrying.

v. true! for me, im currently in therapy to deal with it along with other issues, as sometimes in the past it has definitely gone from "mildly irritating" to "very very stressful and causing me to avoid X situations". but its definitely not at a "must be immediately hospitalized or be at the step before" bc of it? so the conflation for me was worrying bc of it, and i'd rather they'd stuck with the latter phrasing.

and i will stop repeating myself here. :|

*nod* Mine worries me, but ditto on the hospitalization thing. And no worries about the repeating. I think it's good for the same way your initial point was good - precise wording and re-clarifying can be super good in talking about health issues!
