Actual art notwithstanding, which do you prefer to buy, adopts that are a flat rate (ie 50k) or uh, dlc-style adopts (35k base, +5-10k per gene or w/e)? This isn't factoring in apparel or accents either, just the dragon itself.
I've always just sold things at a flat-rate for simplicity, but I don't know if the higher flat price tends to scare some people off in general- I've always thought those dlc-style seem like kinda a hassle to set up and keep track of, but I can genuinely see where they work pretty well, with someone going 'oh! 35k is cheap! ...okay well I guess 5k for tiger is fine. another 5k for shimmer couldn't hurt.' etc and it adds up, rather than the sticker shock of '50k for an adopt is kind of pricey :(' even if they wind up paying the same amount in the end.
...also because I really don't want to deal with apparel and accents this time around (I've spent more time trying to mimic some accents than it took me to draw the adopt base itself) and idk if people would be like 'ugh 50k and I can't even add on my dragon's goodies, no thanks' >__>
flat rate, even if it winds up costing a bit more. especially if accents are an option- i'll pay up to double to have the accents on some dragons included bc they're important for that dragon. don't care so much about apparel on most adopts
This is why I make my adoptables have a baseline price and the additional pricing is for accents and apparel, NOT genes. I never quite got why anyone did that, isn't the layer already there on the PSD?
Then again I do kind of understand charging a little extra change for irishim and cryface sometimes. I have no fucking clue how the site picks the colors for those genes.
kind of an aside, and apologies if this isn't helpful to anyone - I used to hate doing math for FR auction house stuff, until I discovered google's calculator (i.e. if I put 1234 + 5678 into google it'll tell me right there in a calculator area above the search results)
Yeah! I do that all the time, I just get majorly anxious about whether or not I messed up something, even if the number looks right to me? So I end up refreshing like mad until the other party confirms that I did things right.
