Hmm. It's hard to put a price to it, but $1-2 seems about right. If you took it past the shoulders/to the waist, it could get $5-7. As for in-game currency, just use 100 Gems:$1 dollar for a ballpark range.
.......please don't price art ever like jesus I'd be insulted if i were the srtist just because that is not $1-2 proce range at the VERY least $7-$10 and still being low but I'd like to see more examples from op because i like this style
But im still grossed out by $1 dollar like if this was paypal they wouldn't even be getting that whole dollar with fees and everything
Since i'm not very skilled yet, I'm going to go with around 1.5 per headshot + maybe 50 cents for super complicated apparel. I know that this is a little low, but this is more me getting practice! (thanks for replying you made me feel very loved)
I am a freelance artist who makes supplemental income for myself via art. NEVER EVER, pay yourself lower than minimum wage for any art you do unless you are just being generous and nice/doing it more as a hobby and don't care how much you make.
If a person at a fast food place can make 7.50 (where I am at) an hour, then you deserve that if not more. You art is good and very talented, and as said a few pages back, it can be not worth it to compare IRL currencies to FAKE MONEY. (aka 80 pieces of art for a rare item, when in the end you can make more money just charging for the 80 pieces you have drawn.
Personally I undercharge the shit out of myself, I've been very much accused of doing so, and I definitely understand that nowadays to get most business is to settle for a lower bar.
You've spent a lot of time honing your skills and that's what people are paying YOU for.
tl;dr Measure how long it takes for you to do your art, and price accordingly, don't undersell yourself for all the effort and time spent learning your craft! :>
I understand being outraged at artists not charging what you feel they should, but did you read all of OP's comments? OP said "but if I had a graphic tablet it would take me closer to 10 mins, so I think i'm going to go with your recommendation at 1.5 :)" $1.5 times 6 is $9, and $9 an hour is more than minimum wage. Unless I am misreading something?
Oh no don't get me wrong I definitely agree to what you guys above are saying, but presently it takes them much longer to do the art, therefore they should charge more until they DO get their graphic tablet.
and I missed that it was for a hobby (hence why I added the caveat to my original post)
But people do have to remember that egregious underselling can be more of a burden than a blessing in the art world. (sorry if I seemed to come across antsy in my original post, but there are way more people out there that will take advantage of such prices)
Thanks for replying! I'm going to go with around 1.5, since I'm not really doing this for the money more for practice and I'm not very good yet. Thanks once again!
I'd charge $10-15 an hour for your art, like you would for any kind of luxury. That said, if it takes you 10 minutes, then about a 1.50 would be alright.
It took me closer to two hours (ipad kept freezing up) but if I had a graphic tablet it would take me closer to 10 mins, so I think i'm going to go with your recommendation at 1.5 :) Thanks for replying!
do you have other samples? approx. how long does it take you to do a headshot?
from just that sample, i really wouldn't price it as low as a dollar. the lineart is very clean, and the colors are nice and have some shading to them. maybe 4-5 if they're easy for you to do, 7-8 if it takes some time or requires some detail (like with accents)?
That's my first shot at a gjinka, it took my around two hours (I don't own a graphic tablet and instead have to use adobe draw on my mom's old ipad) Thank you for replying!
you're welcome, anon. i still think it's worth more than 1.50, but i understand and respect your decision (as i tend to price low b/c a lot of my stuff is just practice, too). do keep in mind what above anon mentioned about paypal fees if you're going to use paypal for USD, tho.
good luck with your practice, and i'll be sure to shoot you a pm whenever fr is back up!

(Anonymous) 2015-09-03 05:22 am (UTC)(link)Do you think a gijinka like this is worth USD? (a dollar?) Or if not, how much do you think it would go for in game currency?
