I don't drop the "e" word all that often, but when I do it has to do with this kinda shit right here.
It literally infuriates me that people feel entitled to gifts when the site goes out. And that's not to say that OP is demanding one (it honestly sounds like you're just asking/inspiring conversation), but I remember when the site went down last year or so, people were chatting about getting downtime gifts, as if they were guaranteed, as if they deserved them just because.
It's a really cool system that FR has, but I loathe it because of the way people abuse it and demand it every time the servers so much as falter.
Talk to me when the site is out for a week, MAYBE, and don't start assuming you're going to get one.
(Again, this is a general 'you,' not a jab at you yourself, OP. Just something I've been bothered by for the past year)
as someone who has joked about getting a downtime gift, I'm just letting you know - most of the talk right now is just a joke, most people know they are not entitled to a retired item when the site has only been down for maybe 3 hours.
i just don't want someone looking at my dtg talk and getting offended or being angry at me for sounding entitled
