this is funny and it's true. i remember way way back in the day monarque deanoned to talk about how she only spends like half an hour making her accents. this was a long time ago (i think it was when she was bugatti) but i'm sure that's still the case.
idk, i can kinda respect it on some level. like, mona found her niche and knows her customer base is thirsty enough to buy whatever lazy recolour she puts out. it's basically printing money. i actually laughed when i saw this accent: http://items.kanojo.de/?item=12750 because it's literally just copies and pastes of three of her old accents mashed together: http://items.kanojo.de/?item=8387 http://items.kanojo.de/?item=9928 http://items.kanojo.de/?item=9732
not a single part of that top accent is new. i feel like she's doing this on purpose because she knows her fans are that dumb.
hell, you don't even have to be a big name to get your accent to sell out if you say it's limited to 10-20 copies these days. a lot of the time people aren't even buying accents for their own dragons anymore, they're buying them as an investment or trade bait. the pastel cloudy/starry shit works on a lot of dragons too because it's so generic, and i feel like half the people buying them are buying because they know *other* people love that shit.
i used to be kinda salty about it too (esp back when the trend was generic galaxy stuff), but i'm pretty ok with it lately. i spend a million hours on my accents because i'm slow as hell, and they'll never have the appeal that the pastel shit does, but like.. i don't really feel like i'm competing with that market? if somebody actually really wants my accent, they'll probably pass up Generic Pastel Stars #761210 to get it. there will always be more pastel accents, but niche accents don't really have alternatives.
eventually the pastel star market will oversaturate and people will stop caring, and maybe the next trend will command a little more creativity/art skill. but probably not! c'est la vie.
