Just kidding! Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

Went until Greenskeeper this year.
Alive is especially terrible at this. Literally every of their skins/accents is black with floaty golden eyes and shapes. Just check Kanojo for them.

Obligatory, not "literally."

I do think they do overdo the eyes (and triangles), but Souls Lost at Sea is one of the best pieces of art I've seen on the site to date (https://items.kanojo.de/?item=17621). Whenever I see it, I just think of that breeze that signals a coming storm with triangles tinkling in the background. Shame it's so hard to find a dragon to wear it.

I'm also grateful in general that they keep their most egregious triangles and eyes to their personal, limited customs. Their festival PC accents are also great, and I generally like their accents with the antlers, personally (e.g. Journey's End, Apprenticeship, Traveling Illuminations). That said, I wish they'd start putting out accents like Celestial Imitation again, but for other breeds. :/

"because neener" isn't accurate at all. it's more "because i was put off by the needless patronization," as far as i can tell. which is..valid enough? the rest of the post was fine, but it's okay to not want to listen to someone who's being impolite. different people have different levels of tolerance for this stuff.

and the condescending as hell way they responded makes me much less sympathetic than i would be otherwise.

It was literally two words and two punctuation marks at the beginning of a post. If I said that your lack of caps put me off and that I then didn't read the rest of your post because of that reason because you're putting on an air of carelessness that I don't care for, people would rightully call me an ass, because it's completely irrelevant and the polite thing to do is to actually scroll past. The other thing is that the original post actually wasn't just quibbling with word usage, it was saying: Not all the accents are eyes, here are some I personally enjoy! But you know, YMMV, tone and all.

If you're going to be That Person that is so knowledgable about words that you feel the need to correct others, it would help if you would better interpret how they're being used in the first place. For example with above, "literally" wasn't literal, and something that was akin to "Hey I'm really put off by your post" wasn't "neener". Lack of punctuation/caps is pretty common in this era, so everyone would roll their eyes at you if you said you didn't read for that reason, yeah, but correcting others has generally always been considered pretty rude. So, I guess here we have someone being rude for the sake of calling out someone being ruder.

But anyway, now we're devolving into offtopic land, so I'll leave this at that.

I don't think it's that people hate them, most would probably agree that their work is beautiful, but I think the problem is that that don't really branch out from the same themes so it gets kind of tiring fast

They have a particular style and it obviously sells. This is kinda like being annoyed about how Murakami keeps writing surreal fiction and why won't he stoppppp.

And I'm not going to buy any of it because of the awful, overdone eyes. So it frustrates me, as I can see potential there but then it is the same thing (nearly) yet again. I don't hate Alive, and agree they are good at what they do, but I do hate the way overdone trend.

NA Same. And i am NOT here for this pa shit where stating an opinion (in the unpopular opinions thread btw) is suddenly "hate" for an artist. Technically it's just hate for that style. I love Alive's other stuff but man does this whole "eyes, eyes on everything!!!!111" trend need to just stop.

It's not bad art, it's just...it's like the pastel trend a while back with the pastel cloud effect that had the hearts and stars inside. It can be done well and still be overdone.
