#47 - And now for something completely different (Part 2: Electric Boogaloo)

This is a Star Trek anon comm now. Make it so, nonnies.

Just kidding!
Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

Oh, and welcome to
The 47 Society, AnonRising!
*tosses confetti*

How high do sought-after limited print (5-copy) auctions usually go? Trying to decide if I should go in on this one or not. I think I have the funds for it, but I don't wanna go utterly bankrupt...

Depends on the artist, the breed, the type of the accent, and overall who'd shell out the money for it. A Fae 5-print and an Imperial 5-print by the same artist, about the same subject matter, are going to be very different auctions because of the popularity of Imperials.

+1

Prices will definitely go up and down depending on who's in the market for something, and publicity can have an effect as well. I'd take a look at who's been bidding so far to get an idea of what's going on, but also keep in mind that a whole lot can happen in the last few hours. If anything unexpected is going to happen it's usually then.

Thanks for the answer. I'm not very familiar with the accent market so I have a hard time judging. What's the highest an accent has ever sold for out of curiosity? I know Glimpse of Opulence went for 30kg, and that one has more than 5 prints? But then I see some of Asmo's limited, popular stuff going for "just" 5kg.

I'm mostly thinking about a future auction and want to plan out how much I need to set aside. (I'll stop being coy: I'm drooling over Ysdaar's latest 5-print but don't know if I need to set aside just a respectable amount of $$$ or like a Light Sprite's worth of money... It looks like a lot of rich people are on the ping-list for it, so I don't know if I should get my hopes up.)

There's a lot of high-selling ones, there was some drama over Lucatri (I think it was them?) selling a Houseteeth print for 50kg or 70kg or something like that, and Houseteeth trying to get something out of that with their own person artist's copy.

The Glimpse series has been pretty popular as well, with Opulence going for 30kg as you said, Mighty going for I think over 10kg, and the third one not as much, but still a fair amount.

To go for that much though, I would say it has to be for a popular breed, by a popular artist, of a popular or otherwise 'attractive' subject matter, if not it probably won't go for much.

Yikes, 70kg??? I'm morbidly curious to know what accent that is. Houseteeth makes neat stuff for sure but that kind of strikes me as ludicrous considering the number of customs you can buy with that money.

I saw Kaljaia's Lightsteed go for 15.8kg, which surprised me since it was a 15-print with kinda little demand, but it mostly looked like it was just hybris vs Micheru...

That's cause it was a one time only set of prints given out as prizes during the Light vs Plague Valightine's battle.

It, along with Lightmask and Ghosts of Hewn City were all custom accents that were made specifically for push prizes:

@Mods sorry for bringing up old drama, figured it was thread-relevant

Those are the two threads I could find. The actual name is 'Eternal Possession', and it wasn't 70kg like I thought, but 40kg.

Interesting! Thanks! I ... would not have paid that much for it, but I generally am not a fan of their "Posession" series (which is pretty for sure but doesn't have enough substance to it to make me want any of them).

nayrt

I think houseteeth got tired of the drama surrounding it, and gave up their personal copy (for a sprite and some old fest items equaling 12kg) to make a new one eventually. The "Possession" series I believe are unrelated customs requested solely by hybris, and are alternatives to Eternal Possession. TBH if I wwere them, I'd be so sick of making those accents over and over.

It's up to 15kg already, fuuuuuck, my wallet.

Honestly you're better off custom ordering from the artist. More bang for your buck and its completely unique to you.

True... Except they're closed for customs, like all my other favorite accent artists. Also I have no ideas/creativity. Mostly I just see something and think "PRETTY!"
