Just kidding! Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

I don't like the whole paintie thing either. But then again, custom pets as a whole kinda irritate me, it's annoyed me on every petsite I've been to (chicken smoothie and mycena cave)
Furvilla is just WAY way worse because essentially nearly every paintie can be custom? which then it's like... Well why. Why the petsite part if we can just upload our own characters.
Custom fr skins are different...somehow. They're fine. Idk why.

the difference for me is that skins and accents are just one of many options for customization on FR.... you also have a ridiculous amount of color options, genes, and apparel. FV has painties and costumes - and costumes use entirely different lineart from the base version of each species. so to customize your villagers past the limited base options everyone else has, painties are the only way to go. the whole model feels like it outsources all of the work of customizing to the users, which is kinda lame.

not to mention that whole thing about the new "species" where you can just upload whatever the hell you want, regardless of whether it fits the site style? i don't get the point of that at all... the only thing it does is make the site look super inconsistent art-wise. i personally don't actually mind custom-based petsites, but i don't think they work unless there's a dedicated art team following a style guide, and custom pets aren't the sole option for customization. it already feels kinda like aywas all over again.

If it feels like aywas all over again, that's because it's owned by the same owner. They run aywas, felisfire, clanheart, furvilla, and a couple of sites that went under.

I've had bad experiences with Slash in the past with payment. He doesn't pay his artists nearly enough for the work they do.

While Slash invests in clanheart and furvilla he leaves aywas without any meaningful updates. All their profits are going towards the new sites instead of being reinvested to keep the existing games running well. It's a common model of his to outsource a lot of the work to the players.
