Just kidding! Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

after another anon mentioned a recent rule update I logged back on for once

like, for that first point there's a time and a place, and I don't know if a specific instance caused this point as a reaction, but a lot of teens seek out support circles in their social circles or on social sites they use, and this sounds kinda isolating. and for the second... begging, i get that, but yikes. maybe if it was "intentionally severely lowball" it would be better? because that's essentially scamming.

also the second most recent article. "submit your furry as a shopkeeper! write an article for us!"

they're paying two fucking bucks in site currency per article. from already-written article entries. and is there only one artist for the site? they seem sweet and I feel bad for them.

I feel like this site doesn't know what it wants to be. if it were a forum site with pets on the side, more like gaia or mycena or something, that would be one thing. it's missing critical things that sites like FR have, such as apparel and breeding and minigames, aside from the half-assed battle system. I'm not sure what's the point of all the micromanaging. there isn't really a goal. nothing to work towards except maybe a villager, which never takes long at all.

if they had an explorer mode thing a la sylestia, that would balance things out a lot, but it just seems so dull except as a forum game. I like the art, but that's about it.

So many subjective rules. They want forum users to be the moderators and Fun Police by reporting threads that have people being mean. No lowball offers. No begging. They sound reasonable if you're okay with that level of micromanagement.

Where's the line between 'low offer because this person will probably haggle the price up' and 'lowball'? What do you do with someone who unintentionally lowballs because they don't know what the item's worth? When does asking for help end and begging begin? How will some random fuck walking in on a conversation between friends know they're kidding around and not attacking each other? What one person sees as THE WORST VERBAL ABUSE EVER!!!1! could just be 2 old friends with a strange sense of humor saying hello. Some random person walking in on that won't know it so it's up to the people getting harassed to make the report.

They're just begging to get their actual mods overwhelmed by people acting like minimods that report everything that could be a minor infraction so they can get some sort of headpat from someone actually in charge of something.

Tl;dr but it's frustrating to see them fuck it up so bad. The art's nice, the coders responsive and competent, and it could have been great. Here I didn't think they could make it worse than when they made Shiftys a thing.
