This is a Star Trek anon comm now. Make it so, nonnies.

Just kidding! Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

Bogsneak irishim

I know we just had a thread about how no one is ever the only one to feel a certain way, but I haven't seen anything about this and was wondering if I was just overreacting. Does anyone else have an issue with iridescent and shimmer (especially shimmer) on bogsneaks? I know they are hand colored and thus will look different on every breed, but they look a lot brighter and less nuanced to me on bogsneaks.

He has stonewash shimmer, and I love the color variation across his wings.
This is him as a bogsneak with nothing else changed...

The iridescent is different, but it is the shimmer that bothers me. How is that a blue shade?

I saw this on a number of dragons I was scrying but I haven't heard anyone else mention it. Does it bother anyone else? I'm sure I'm not alone, so I was hoping others also felt this way and could commiserate with me.

yeah, I noticed this too. it's almost like the gradient's a lot weaker or maybe not in use? the imp's wings clearly go from a purplish blue to a greenish blue whereas the bog's are solid greenish.

There is definitely that. Plus it just feels "shinier" if that makes sense? Maybe it is the highlighting? It just looks shifted more toward facet than shimmer and thus seems harder to me or something?

the highlight is stronger, this is an error on boggies and on new colors irishim across all breeds. reducing the highlight is one of the planned fixes. (shame, though, because I love the added shine.)

Thanks. I was wondering if this was tied to the new colors, but that made no sense to me, as it was happening with old colors on Bogsneaks too. At this point as it is all the new colors and all colors on Bogsneaks, it seems like it would be easier to just update the other old irishim colors! (I actually would prefer something in the middle between the old and new, but I am well aware that will never happen.)

(but despite the thread name, it's slowly shifted since the color wheel expansion to be the thread where any glitch in gene or breed is reported along with color gradient issues).

Thanks. I wouldn't even have thought to look there, as I see it across the board instead of one specific color. But at least a couple people have mentioned it there, so that is good. If staff says nothing, I will assume it is intentional and I'll stay away from shimmer on them, but maybe it might be tweaked, which would be nice. Thanks again.

I agree that the shimmer is very different and less color shifting on the bognseak but you get that a lot in different breeds. They're hand colored so you sometimes just lose the vibrancy from breed to breed.

But I think the iri looks pretty much the same?

That is why I was checking to see what others thought. It looks all off to me, but I was wondering if others thought it was just the variation due to hand coloring. If the latter is the consensus, so it isn't something that would be fixed, then I will just have to avoid getting irishim bogsneaks. It's probably time I varied the genes in my lair more, I guess, anyway.

The iridescent doesn't look as off to me as the shimmer, but it still looks shinier to me, if that makes sense? The imp doesn't have much showing, so I switched to a coatl scry...

I think it is more obvious there. Like if you look at the tails? Again, it might just be me and I'm overreacting. Hence why I'm checking here.
