#47 - And now for something completely different (Part 2: Electric Boogaloo)

This is a Star Trek anon comm now. Make it so, nonnies.

Just kidding!
Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

Oh, and welcome to
The 47 Society, AnonRising!

It's pretty annoying now...although WJ had a pretty nice post that I can agree with.

"I, someone who contributed to the Kickstarter, am now perfectly fine with the re-release of this item. With it being released in the Gem Marketplace (at a price of somewhere between 100,000 to 200,000 gems. Maybe 300,000 if we want to get extreme), people would be purchasing the scrolls with real money. They would be contributing through their own unique "Kickstarter", except they would be paying a little above what was paid for the creation of Seraph to a little above (or way above if we take the extreme route) what was paid for the creation of Skydancer, depending on the decided price."

I think this would work honestly, and if a good amount of other KS backers were cool with it, that'd be awesome. It's still really pricey, so it'd take a ton of money or time playing to achieve it. Would be a great way for FR to get more money too.

Although I can understand why others wouldn't like it.

nayrt

My biggest problem with that idea is the amount of "why does the staff show so much favoritism toward the rich players?!" that would go on. We already get it for things that are available to everyone equally (i.e. pretty much for free) like gathering and Baldwin.

I can't imagine what the forums would be like if they put up something for 100k-200k gems.

It's certainly not a bad idea in theory, and assuming enough people agreed with that decision it wouldn't bother me. I do think there might be some unintended consequences though. For one it would probably bring back a renewed effort to unretire the retired items (again), and there would likely be more people suggesting that the downtime items get re-released. The problem with the FR players in general is that if the staff gives them an inch they'll try and take a mile, kicking and screaming all the way.

People would just sit around and complain about it costing too much. Yeah they might buy gems but not enough to be worth the headache. Lose/lose. I'm not opposed to the idea but the begging and whining about expensive stuff is real enough already with 1k-2k g items in the MP and I don't want to imagine what it would be like with a 100-200k g item too.
