#47 - And now for something completely different (Part 2: Electric Boogaloo)

This is a Star Trek anon comm now. Make it so, nonnies.

Just kidding!
Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

Oh, and welcome to
The 47 Society, AnonRising!

genuine question how can one user fuck up the economy so bad

do they just undercut so much all the time and others follow or

NAYRT
They undercut constantly. If you put up something below theirs, in less than a minute they are below you again. It makes it really hard to sell anything for gems unless you are them and it can tank prices. And because they are the only ones who can really sell certain higher items for gems, it means there are fewer gems in circulation. (Just look at how many gems they had on hand to put down immediately for the Boolean.) This inflates the gem to treasure ratio.

I understand manipulating the economy is fun for them and they like amassing all of those gems. And they technically aren't breaking any rules. But they make things so much less enjoyable for so many others that I wish they wouldn't do it. I wish they either would go on hiatus or find a different way to amuse themselves onsite.

They're not even on most genes right now. You really need to calm your desperate hateboner for them.

Hm, but even if they do. It's one user, so the situation for everybody else in this dragon economy is the same. You can't really sell treasure marketplace genes for gems if Carnivore is active, but there are many other places in the AH where they are not active.

Also they more or less returned the gems into the economy because the seller of the boolian distributes them to many different artists. Couldn't that also influence the gem ratio? That there are suddenly way more gems? And even if Carnivore returns to flipping genes, the ratio sinks further? Because it will take a while to collect all those gems again?

Yeah but those gems are in the hands of a few people. When they weren't here, the ratio went down as lots of people were able to flip treasure genes for gems. Now that they won't be able to sell those genes anymore, there won't be as many threads up with people selling gems, undercutting each other to sell them faster. So the ratio will go up again.

The ratio went down so quickly because of bogsneak scroll and egg flipping(i know because i made bank on it too). You do realize genes aren't the only way to get gems on AH?

I made bank on that too, but it was pretty much over after the first couple of days.

I've never really resold stuff before unless I had dominance- what other ways are there of getting gems then?

Carnivore seems like a perfectly nice person but it is annoying when you've bought a bunch of genes and can't sell them anymore as they have three copies of each on there and keep almost instantly undercutting you.

Speaking as someone who has sold fewer than ten gene scrolls for gems yet has thousands of gems on hand to feed an accent addiction:

Sell festival accents the day/week after a festival, flip underpriced treasure items for gems on AH, flip undercutting gem items on the AH for more gems, buy/sell fodder for gems, sell Baldwin mats, and the staple just make treasure and convert on the forums.

I used to just make treasure and convert to gems, I think I'll just go back to doing that as I cba to have to relist my genes every minute.

I imagine a lot of people will do the same, so less cheap gems on the market.

Here is a super easy way to make money during festivals Decide on a super popular fest accent (usually imps/coatls/wcs/sds), and resell the accents on the AH. Flip them into gems and convert gems into T and continue the cycle.

HOARD ON THESE POPULAR ACCENTS. I'm talking like 15-20 + extras on top of your "stash for infaltion"-- these extra accents are your SELL NOW pile. Then resell these accents the last few days UP UNTIL rollover of last day of fest. Wait to see what AH market is like the day after fest, and SELL SELL SELL up until 12-18hrs after rollover. Then prices will tank tremendously because everyone is going to try to sell and the last minute buyers will have already bought their accents.

If you have left over skins just toss them into your vault and wait until prices pick up. You could use them to trade for the next fest skins.
