Just kidding! Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

I remember lots of whining last year with discussion of a possible Battle Royale that week "because we have been planning this date for over a year, and it is a tradition, so how dare anyone think to compete against us!" Supposedly that was only because of it being a big/hard battle, but I remember the whining continuing when it was no longer a BR but they would still have to compete. So I think they likely weren't expecting a hotly contested dom battle, no, despite it being NotN.

Didn't Fire almost refuse to push the first NotN? Some Flights get weird around it.

Oh that mess. I'd never been in any other Flight and thought this was just normal, when Dom leaders fought against another Flight member trying to organize a minor push and jumped on their every mistake instead of explaining how to do it better. I even remember thinking "what did expect, going against what the Flight leaders wanted?"

When I got to another Flight that handled that the sane, We can't but you go ahead, way, I was really embarrassed.

Is that what happened? I remember hearing messy rumors but it was never clear, just that something went weird with them pushing because they hadn't wanted to, or something. With some accusations of trolling. There was such a mess around the first NotN it was hard to know what was happening anywhere.

It was a long time ago, and I wasn't super-involved, but this is what it looked like to me: early dec, we all knew something big was going down, so one of the newer registers suggested a push Christmas week. Dom organizers said no way, too little notice, that week's too busy anyway. Newer member went Well, why not just be casual, profit push, try to place rather than win. Dom people went nothing doing, we have to have a few month's notice to organize any push. Newer member said I'm gonna do it anyway, whoever wants to can join in. Dom organizers were frosty and supposedly salty as fuck in private chats.

Don't get me wrong, the person organizing it screwed up a bunch. She had no experience. But instead of quietly explaining what she was doing wrong they made a public thing out of the mistakes. We got second anyway with zero help from the dom 'pros', and I eventually switched flights and realized how weird that had all been.

I don't know anything about trolling, though.

Hm...I must have missed all of that. Mostly what I saw was that it was starting to kind of fall apart up until the big organizers seemed to vanish. I do think those attitudes have changed though, it seems like the group we've got right now is more accepting of people jumping in.

And Qnxyz wasn't trolling so much as throwing tantrums about how he didn't want anything to change when dom was being reorganized.

I kind of wonder if you're just confusing your timing a bit, because it wouldn't surprise me if this was the start of the breakdown. Qnxyz was after all one of the Dom organizers trying to prevent the impromptu push. I guess I should have stayed to see if things got better but nobody seemed that unhappy when I bailed in Jan.

You're not ayrt because I'm anon they replie to. And the trolling accusations I think came from something on dramarising and I'd rather stick my arm in a pot of live unbound angry lobsters than go back through it trying to find it, so....

I remember that incident more as the dom leaders going we don't recommend it, do what you want we can't organize it at this time on such short notice around a major holiday time for a lot of people both on the dom team and off.

The incident that I remember the dom team being annoyed over is when that one person wanted to run for dom conquest like the Sunday of a week we were going to profit push. starting because plague was going for double dom and they were all very 'like we can't let this happen, we can go against plague without planning' and a lot of the dom team was very much against changing a dom plan the day of because reasons of "we can't let plague win twice."

I...don't actually remember any of that happening. I do remember that it was pretty chaotic, and that our dom scene had been kind of taking a nose dive for a while though.

And then after that we had to deal with Qnyxz being...himself.

I'm fuzzy on exact details but what I outlined in my other comment absolutely happened in general terms. What eventuaaly went down? Getting second that week made me realize I wanted Dom more than Fire was gonna give me so I bailed for Plague.
