I've seen other pet sites in beta that basically never have downtime (and they don't have daily maintenance either)

I do? And I don't whine on anon sites about FR being down. BUT I understand why it's frustrating and other people do complain.

Do those pet sites have the kind of traffic that Flight Rising has?

It's easy to keep a site up that has less than 200 users online at a time. Not so much if there are thousands of players on a site where the contents can be rewritten and changed every time the player takes an action or makes a click.

I just checked the one I play nowadays and it said the active users total was almost 7k and for yesterday was around 1k.
