How well do you think a pastel firstgen outside of the typical banana/rose/seafoam/sky combo would sell? All its colors are considered pastel but it's not a combination I'd ever seen before so idk how to even price it. Is there a base-price for pastel firstgens?
suuuper dependent on colour combo, also what you consider "pastel".
i'd say the most widely accepted and popular pastel colours are white range/rose/banana/ivory/lavender/sky/seafoam/aqua. those all play together nice in pretty much any combination. platinum and pink can also be thrown into that mix some of the time, but they don't always work as well.
if you have a dragon with three of the above colours, you can probably fetch at least 100k for it, probably more. two of three with a complimentary 3rd colour outside of the mainstream pastel range would probably sell decent too.
but if your dragon is like... thistle or coral, and you're considering those pastels, you're probably not gonna get a ton for it. at any rate it's impossible to set a baseline for "pastel" prices just because the definition of what pastel is/isn't is so loose. for example, look at the pastel breeder society's pastel colour wheel:
That's the wheel I used to check if it was pastel and all the colors are on there. It's actually really cute and has a white-range tert, but the eyes don't match so I'm hesitant to go out there expecting a lot for what I consider a nice pastel and get low offers...
you can also market it as snowbelly then! that could definitely get it more attention, and might be even more of a selling point if the other colours aren't popular pastels.
overall g1 collectors tend to be more forgiving about nonmatching eyes. for reference, i bought a pastel/pastel/white range g1 with nonmatching eyes in an auction for uhh... 2.5k gems i think? it's a pretty popular combo though.
i think searching the colour combo and seeing how many results it has might help you out too- if there are a bunch of pages worth of dragons it's probably gonna do well in an auction.
this is firstgens we're talking about.. the implication was that they're ungened and a plentiful breed. if they're gened it's hard to say but it doesn't usually add much value, unless it's gem genes.
if it's not a firstgen then that's not my jurisdiction, since i personally don't breed to sell.
I would never have guess that anyone would consider some of those colors pastel. Splash, really? It's got those bright cyan highlights... Sand doesn't seem remotely pastel either.
