i can assure you that this sorta complaining happens every once in a while in every flight. if there's a lone attendant or one of two, and you send them a level 1 flood they then need to direct to someone else while also accepting 60+ dragons from 4 other people, it's a natural reaction to scream, and the attendant will probably do it regardless if which flight they're in. it's obviously not your fault if you sent the dragons, hell no. you probably didn't even know that was an issue. but the attendant might want to yell and imo should be allowed to do so.
the attempt at damage control definitely could have gone better, but i don't think it was a disaster, i feel like the apology was sincere, and i appreciate the attempt. isn't this what some people want from light's dom leaders whenever one of their more vocal bad apples opens their mouth?
overall, i do understand where your approach comes from. when you want to help a flight's dom effort only to hear someone was whiny about it, it does not feel good. but as someone who's been in a couple flights, i promise this happens in most if not all of them when a lone attendant gets swamped, so i don't think it's fair to blame wind only because their complaining was dragged out. if you happen to send your dragons to "the other flight" in a bad moment, it'll probably happen there too, the flight will just probably be more careful to ensure it doesn't see the light of day.
i do know that, unfortunately this happens in many flights but i also know of a few dom teams who shut it down when it happens (gently! usually by staying positive rather than reprimanding). there are ways to remind your team that the negativity helps no one and, as has happened a few times before (on DR, AR, and the site itself) reflects badly on the flight and team
i personally feel that damage control in this case was unnecessary, and that wind team should really have communicated a lot better in this fiasco.. maybe someone would have told them not to respond, as doing so on AR never tends to go well for anyone involved. if it makes you feel any better, i don't like when light does it either! it's just my own personal feelings on the matter
(i do appreciate you being so civil with this, i was very blunt in my first post because i really didn't want to be the person who goes "here's all my FUCKING ISSUES" and then creates a wall, lol)
i know that FR is generally full of whiny people who complain about everything, even when they have no real claim to being pissed off about what they're complaining about, and it's why i've only got a small handful of flights i send fodder to. the rest of the time i just quietly flip dragons and keep to myself, which is why i think anyone being pissy (not you!) that some people like myself have decided this is something they don't want to deal with needs to get a grip on themselves (like the person who responded to my original post after you, lol)
like i said, my support legitimately means nothing in the grand scheme of things and it makes me feel better to know im not being shit talked behind my back for showing support the only way i really can. i think other dom teams should look at the shitshow that happened earlier and try to foster a more positive attitude about things rather than letting their team rage because they want something to bitch about
friend from wind told me the gentle reprimanding and more positivity part happened in their discord as well, just... after the fact. so i hope they learn a lesson for the future from this. wind is very new to the realm of dom related drama because they hardly ever got any in the past, they probably weren't sure how to manage it well. experience, i suppose.
i think overall the damage control from dom leads is a complicated thing... some people demand it and shit on leaders for not saying anything, others shit on them when they do try to do something about it for taking the bait or whatever. i think selah would have gotten crap no matter what they did in this situation, just not directly if they hadn't revealed their name.
as for your support - a solo push like this is definitely more relaxed, but in a heated battle, every dragon counts! as someone who does attend to pbs, i can promise you that even if someone has a brief whine about getting swamped, the flight appreciates all the support in the long run.
i appreciate you being civil as well, i'm glad we can discuss it like this.
gosh i really feel the dom is emotions thing haha. its like you cant walk two battles without tripping over some drama... and it still astounds me that there's so *much* drama surrounding dom? even though i really shouldn't be surprised, considering the amount of people on the site
i do agree that its almost always a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' scenario... but in my honest opinion, better to keep your mouth closed lest you shove a foot in it and give people ammo to use against you / your flight (which will happen no matter what)
i dont have anything against any of the people involved /personally/, which is why i didnt participate upthread (especially after it was getting particularly nasty) and i wish them well + hope they learned a lesson or two to take back to mama, but something as rash as stepping down feels a bit too far to me. to fix your mistakes, you don't run! you stay, and show people you've changed
some people actively look for drama, unfortunately, and then shit like this happens. if you want drama and there's none, you make it. when it comes to wind specifically, shoutout to them for their battles against earth/arcane/lightning being calm and friendly, but some other flights get shit flung their way every time they breathe a bit louder (isn't that right, light/plague) and it's just sad to watch.
like i said, i hope wind learns a lesson from this and shit like that doesn't happen to them again. wind friend told me selah got support and hopefully they just treat this as experience and don't step down.
