I gotta say I'm fucking pissed, I was told DV was opening on the 10th, but it opened sooner it seems and I never got a notification. So much for an earlier start wtf
Okay, maybe it hasn't? I'm so confused. Their site makes it seem like they have and I had people telling me it started earlier (not just for the headstart people). What
idk, I'm not particularly fond of their opening schedule. I don't think they sent out notifications for HS keys besides "here's the date and time"; I followed their twitter FOR "registration is now open!" notifications and either I didn't get them or they didn't do them. I also don't like that standard beta key start and an open reg window are at the same time today, which I realized last night. Like, I get the open signups are windows, and people with the keys can sign up whenever, but having paid for a key I would have appreciated at least a little bit of a start on them /vent
Oh I agree! I bought a key with gems and I wasn't even able to use it during the open reg, the option to disappeared. So I made a free account and wasted my beta token :I
I'm sorry for the kerfurffle with your beta key, but thank you so much for posting here, I'd completely forgotten about the free account registration windows today, but saw your thread and managed to snag one!
I'm pretty sure it was only the advanced beta keys that opened registration before today. Today is the standard beta keys and the first of the open registration windows. But you still don't get too much of an earlier start, as the first open registration is at the same time as the first standard beta registration keys. Assuming everything goes smoothly of course.
I was kind of amazed at how relatively high the account numbers were already when I made an account.
The headstart keys were something like 300-400 right? I had a bit of trouble so I probably registered an account more like 20 minutes past the opening but it was already midway past 2000.
And now I'm even more pissed off because I can't resell the code I bought because "no trading codes during beta~" bullshit and every thread from others is being deleted. Fuck you, people still want to buy the beta key codes to get in. It's different than items or item codes, it's to have a safer chance at making a beta account. Come on...it's one fuck up the ass after another
1.4kg here man...like what the hell guys. About 60% of the people that bought them were misinformed, and lied to, and couldn't find anything at the time of purchase [I being one if those].
I hate how they've done this beta reg, the keys are somewhat pointless with 4+ open regs. And a lot of people were having issues with "invalid code" errors when trying to use beta keys, not just for other players [so that knocks out some of possibilities of it being due to prior code usage].
When I bought mine it there wasn't any idea that there was going to be THAT many open reg periods, I looked, never found anything befire purchase and didn't realize until the day before the live beta.
But how the staff of DV did the beta codes is really strange to me though, I wish we still could have had an option to just use the key either way. No point in having it otherwise and it's just a waste for a lot of people that can get in during open reg periods. But yeah, it's the sellers fault. Bad thing is there was a lot of older players doing it too which is gross, taking advantage of it all and charging out the wazoo for them :(
As a seller I didn't have any information on the keys either so...please don't put it all on the sellers. I'm annoyed at the DV staff for not giving out enough information right off the bat and not putting it where everyone could see it. Had I known IN ADVANCE that they were going to have so many open reg windows and start standard beta keys at the same time I would not have sold my extras off.
I disagree that it is the seller's fault. As you say, when you google Dappervolk, you get the tumblr, and there is a really obvious post on February 23rd that gives the open registration dates. Both seller and buyer should be able to find it, but it is more important for the buyer to look for it, as they are the one paying for the thing in question. I thought that I was even linked to it from AR, but I might not have been. The information is out there for people to look for it and know when they could register. I honestly don't know why anyone bought the beta codes at all. But I guess some people care more about having a low ID number? That doesn't mean anything to me, but I've heard some people care about it.
I will agree that the way Dappervolk went about with the scheduling doesn't make sense to me. I would have had the first open registration window at least a few hours after the first beta key registration window so that they didn't overlap and there was an advantage to having a code.
Every beta I've participated in has never done something like this, so this was far far from what I expected. It's not the sellers fault completely, no, but I already made the purchase and they get to keep the money for something that is pretty much essentially useless to me and I have to give away for free now [thank you new rules~!]. I took the risk, but I wasn't expecting this kind of risk. But I'm partially to blame for being an idiot :/
I'm also kinda pissed because the person I nicely gave my key to didn't even fucking thank me =_= I'm just so done right now that I can't even chill out because it's one thing after another online and irl
A AURT RT I don't think you are an idiot. It was just a really odd situation set up by the admins. But I also don't think it is at all the seller's fault. Sure, it would be nice if they offered at least some of the currency back. I might have done so. But as no one had foreknowledge that much in advance, it's not like they went out to scam people.
I can definitely understand your frustration. Especially with not being able to resell for a lower price. (I would think the code would still have legitimate value, as the next window isn't open for a bit.) I just think it isn't fair to blame them. When it is really the fault of the way it was all set up. I hope you at least are enjoying the game despite the frustrating start.
AURT In that case I still would say it is not the seller's fault. How would they know what was being planned? If the buyer can't get the information then likely neither can the seller. I will go back to my point of it being an odd registration schedule that was set up and if I were the admins, I would have given at least a few hours (likely 6 or so, like going to the second registration window they had set up) for only the beta people to sign up before open registration. Again, though, as long as the seller isn't scamming (which wouldn't seem to be the case given the admins' announcements, then it is a case of buyer beware and it is unfortunate (and I very much understand the frustration!) for the buyer, but not the seller's fault.
