Just kidding! Since the attitude in the comm has chilled out a little, I'd like to try another post without a Wanker Thread to see how it goes. The Wanker Thread is still present on the comm, but hidden to you (for now) and will be brought back if any big drama occurs that people feel should be contained. You can still make complaints about things that annoy you on Flight Rising, but let's try and keep the vitriol at a minimum.

i'm in the process of lining a skincent, and it's a lot like the stuff a few popular skin makers create - feathers, silks/fabrics, gold, halos, etc. i think it's a beautiful aesthetic and wanted to try my hand at it, but now not so much...

i think i'll still finish it but i don't want to end up on a shitlist because of it. i have this horrible (most-likely irrational) fear of being an unintentional copycat and getting called out for it. this whole skin making business is too stressful lol

The number of accent artists who've jumped right onto all the popular design bandwagons is so lengthy, I don't know why you would be singled out more than any other artist. Do what you like as long as you aren't plagiarizing, and I think you should be fine. Good luck, and may you make much dosh.

when you're doing art/accents/stuff for people, how often should you be PMing them updates?

I give them a time frame that I will work within (usually a month) and don't ask to be bothered during that time. if i think i am going over the month, i will contact them for that update.

otherwise, i contact them in sketch stage, and if i have any questions. I wouldn't contact them more than twice for different stages--once for rough sketch, once for maybe flatted colors if you're worried? anything more than that, unless you're asking questions, seems redundant.

I just joined in the latest registration window and I'd heard accents were the way to go if you wanted to make money. So I made an accent, and made a thread, but I'm not really sure where to go from there? It's not getting much attention.



Is there anything I should change to make it more appealing? Or do I just have to be more patient?

yes, there is a pinglist organisation (called GASP) exactly for that, helping to bring accent makers and customers together: http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/skin/1918833/1 it seems a little complicated but they have instructions.

I'm in Lightning; we cancelled our push because we were planning it to be a dom experiment, not a conquest. Then when we realized that Wind only wanted a conquest and was preparing for several more weeks in advance than we were, so we didn't feel like we could give a proper battle on what had turned out to be short notice.

My first thought is some of the Mage apparel, and/or the Untamed or Ruthless sets. Those colors aren't as saturated as a lot of other apparel so I think they'd set off the dragon's colors nicely.

im not one to resell accents, but I really don't have any dragons that fit this accent anymore.

It's Onyx Opulence by Micheru, a five copy accent only available through the randomized Ice Dom grab bags from a while ago. What would you guys recommend pricing it at?

Micheru's accent shop actually states that it's a ten-print accent and for some reason lists a 600g price underneath the picture, which is odd if all the copies were given out through dom grab bags. (Five copies given out, five more copies sold via shop or AH perhaps?) It's a recolor of Micheru's Opulence series, which, looking through the rest of the shop, does not appear to be particularly in-demand from what I can tell.

You could do an interest check and then put on an auction starting at 1000-1500g, but I'm kind of skeptical it'll go over 2000g. Then again, it's totally not my type of accent, so I could be completely misjudging.

Is there any actual confirmation that the baldwin thing is a hint at a new breed and not, say, a fins gene or something? Is this something people just ran with or is there like actual reason to believe this is a thing?
